How it Works

How to get them and keep them!
  1. Ok, so you have joined or thinking about joining! How do I get and keep VE Partners and how are they different from clubs or boards?.

  2. First off, you will have to do some work! Look for websites that don't belong to boards. Visit Guestbooks and leave messages! There is nothing wrong with boards, except everyone votes for everyone. What this means is probably most of the board is voting for your opponent too and guess what? That's a tie!

  3. Once you get a positive reply from a website that will VE with you, you must have some way of communicating with them, so set up a mail list. Yahoo Groups is good (http://groups.yahoo.com/). This mail list is how you communicate with your VE Partners by sending them your comp URL for example.

  4. Now you have a few VE Partners, let's show them off. Create a VE Partner page on your website. Ask your partners to supply you with a banner to display on this page with a link back to their website. This show appreciation and they get more exposure for their website. The page looks good on your website too.

  5. Ok, let's begin. The first e-mail (mail group) you would send is a short letter saying that your are proud to have them as partners and here is where they vote for you this week. Remember, people don't have all day to vote, so if you ask them to vote for you at 20 competitons, you probably are going to lose them as partners. Pick your competitons wisely. The good competitions stay around for a long time. So, join a couple. Compete till you feel you have gone as far as you can go. Quit that one and join another.

  6. If you are having a close competition, it is not unwise to send out a midweek mailer calling for your Partners to help by making sure they vote for you for thew rest of the week.

  7. At the end of the week, send a thank-you letter to all your VE Partners, wether you won or not. Always be positve and cheery. No one wants to Partner up with a whiner.

  8. Now this is optional, but when I VE'd, I visited my Partners comps to see if they won. If they did I created a "Congratulations on Your Win" banner and sent it to them. Most wrote me back and thanked me.

  9. Always keep your communication with your VE Partners lighthearted and positive. Get to know your partners, in most cases they are just like you and have simular interests. I still communicate with some of my most favourite Partners and I have not competed in many years.

  10. This has to be fun for everyone or it's not worth doing. So, in review:
1.Don't bite off too many competitons at once. If they are good they will be around.
2.Visit the sites you feel would benifit you in your competitons. Like the site you are inviting, after all they may become friends.
3.Establish good postive, uplifting communicate on a regular basis.
4.Reward your Partners with a banner page on your website and the occasion pat on the back.
5.Have Fun! Isn't that what it is all about?

Remember, one of the greatest sources of vote are the One on One members themselves. Make friends, you never know where it will lead you!
